My goal with creating art is mainly as outlet for myself, but also to share with others that art does not have to be perfect to be amazing. That is my favorite thing about art- It is whatever you want it to be!
I started my journey about 9 years ago by jumping into art journaling, and I have grown so much since then. I've gotten to know more about myself, and met some amazing people along the way.
I hope to inspire others to just jump in and start creating!

I have been going landscape crazy over here this month. These first few I'm sharing were created during/right after watching the zoom session with @theoutdoorsketchbookcollective. This month is all about expansive landscapes, which I've had a wonderful time exploring!

This is one of my most recent favorites. I used pictures I took on different vacations, but they were all water themed. The bridge was in Bruges, the ship in the Bahamas, And the lighthouse was in Alaska. I really love sketching memories, learning how to simplify, and I hope to start doing it while I'm in a place rather than after.

Mountain and texture studies, following along with @ohn_mar_win's video on patreon. I loved the textures of the rocks, and the flowers growing out of the crevasses. I based these on her photos, but went through my pictures from a trip to Colorado and found some others I'd like to explore!

Flowers using only colored pencils. I know, I'm also shocked that I only used *one* medium for these. It was a fun experiment, and I liked changing up the colors!
This was drawn following one of @katie_moody's lessons during dry media month. I've really embraced the dry mediums and how portable and versatile they are!

Simple little color studies done in brush pen and Neocolor II. I love how the Neocolor lines transferred to the opposite pages in the first one. It adds such a cool texture.

Another view of my little French landscape studies, this time next to a mountain landscape done with all dry media. In fact, for both pages of this spread I used dry media- just Tombow brush pens, colored pencils, and Neocolor II crayons. It's amazing what you can do with just a few supplies!

Both pages were done after watching @katie_moody's videos on her patre on. I love learning landscapes and drawing from different artists, and Katie makes it so approachable.

I had a great time sketching along with @katie_moody's live stream replay focusing on scenes from France. I really liked the challenge of using 3 materials.
The first image is using similar colors and materials as Katie. I then tried it again later using my own color palettes (second image).
I liked letting the lesson sit with me and following my own intuition on the same prompts, and seeing the difference.

I haven't yet decided on my favorite type of landscape. I love the look and freedom of a totally abstracted painting, but I also really enjoy drawing and adding details.

First attempt at wax resist following along with last month's @ohn_mar_win lessons. I didn't have crayons (or a candle that I could find!) so I used oil pastels. The resist wasn't as prominent, but I do love how it turned out anyway!

Since my vacation (maybe even before) I've really been slacking on my Instagram posts. I've been in a creative reset recently, leaning more towards learning and trying new things: I'm enjoying drawing, landscapes, and of course my beloved botanicals.

I've also been resistant to sitting at my desk, opting to bring a few supplies elsewhere, rather than be surrounded by all of them.

I love this boat. It's not a perfect sketch or rendition, but you can totally tell it's a boat! I've been learning so much about sketching and embracing the imperfections. I'm loving this new side to my art, and am excited to keep exploring!
